  • £71.00

This series of Le Corbusier coins are produced by Monnaie de Paris, France’s oldest continuously operating minting institution, founded in 864. This silver coin has a nominal value of 10€, however they are traded at a much higher price on the bullion coin market due to the state-of-the-art know-how of the Monnaie de Paris craftsmen who are able to expertly and creatively engrave precious metals.

This 2015 Le Corbusier Architecture 10€ silver coin bears a modern design inspired by the man it is dedicated to, with an impressive fineness of 999.9 and a unique look, featuring an uneven coin shape. The obverse of this coin depicts a drawing of the Cité Radieuse built in 1952 in Marseille. Le Corbusier defined the house as the container of a family, a basic unit that is held in a structure standing on pilings. On the reverse, we can find Le Corbusier’s portrait, recognisable with his iconic round glasses; Le Corbusier was a pioneer in the movement of modern architecture who was influential in urban planning and dedicated to improving living conditions in crowded cities. Architects' plans are drawn in the background of the coin on the reverse, and the RF mention, face value and artist’s name can also be found.
