This series of Eiffel Tower coins are produced by Monnaie de Paris, France’s oldest continuously operating minting institution, founded in 864. This silver coin has a nominal value of 10€, however they are traded at a much higher price on the bullion coin market due to the state-of-the-art know-how of the Monnaie de Paris craftsmen who are able to expertly and creatively engrave precious metals. Since 2007, Monnaie de Paris has honoured various monuments listed on the UNESCO “world heritage cultural property sites”, and in 2014, Monnaie de Paris celebrated arguably the most famous Parisian landmark: the Eiffel Tower.
This 2014 The Eiffel Tower 10€ silver coin bears a modern, structural and intricate design. With an impressive fineness of 950 and a unique look, the obverse shows the Eiffel Tower with a shiny effect in the foreground, while the background highlights the monument’s metal architecture, and between the legs of the Tower, the massive windows of the Palais de Chaillot can be seen. The reverse, common to the whole series, is divided into two parts: the UNESCO logo and the face value are shown on the left side, and on the right there is an aerial view of the location of the two monuments, with the two sides are joined by the course of the Seine across Paris. The Eiffel Tower and the Palais de Chaillot are represented by two points along the Seine.
