This series of Napoleon III coins are produced by Monnaie de Paris, France’s oldest continuously operating minting institution, founded in 864. This silver coin has a nominal value of 10€, however they are traded at a much higher price on the bullion coin market due to the state-of-the-art know-how of the Monnaie de Paris craftsmen who are able to expertly and creatively engrave precious metals.
This 2014 Napoleon III 10€ silver coin bears a modern yet historically inspired design, with an impressive fineness of 900 and a unique look, featuring an uneven coin shape. The obverse shows a portrait in profile of Napoleon III sporting his goatee known as “the imperial beard”, which was characteristic of his era, and whose reign was marked by impressive industrial, economic and financial development in France. Also on the obverse is the yeardate, and on the reverse an imperial eagle is displayed, an emblem of the First and Second French empires which has been associated with military prowess and victories throughout history. Also engraved are the dates of the Second French Empire (1848-1871), the face value and the RF inscription.
