This series of Louis XIV coins are produced by Monnaie de Paris, France’s oldest continuously operating minting institution, founded in 864. This silver coin has a nominal value of 10€, however they are traded at a much higher price on the bullion coin market due to the state-of-the-art know-how of the Monnaie de Paris craftsmen who are able to expertly and creatively engrave precious metals.
This 2014 Louis XIV 10€ silver coin bears a distinctive and historically inspired design, with an impressive fineness of 900 and a unique look, featuring an uneven coin shape. This coin is designed by French fashion designer Christian Lacroix, and the obverse shows a portrait of Louis XIV, whose 72-year reign was one of the longest in European history. In the portrait, Louis XIV is wearing a long, curly wig, typical of 17th-century style, and is clearly in Lacroix's distinctive style, alongside the yeardate. On the reverse is Louis XIV's emblem, the Sun, along with the inscription RF, face value and the dates of his reign, 1643 - 1715.
