The Chinese Gold Panda is the official bullion coin of the People's Republic of China, and was first issued in 1982. The coins are available in denominations of one, one-half, one-quarter, one-tenth and one-twentieth of a troy ounce, as well as occasionally five ounces and twelve ounces. Each coin is guaranteed to contain its stated weight of .999 fine gold in troy ounces, although as of 2016 the coins have been weighted in grams instead of troy ounces. This Chinese Gold Panda 1/2oz Coin depicts the Temple of Heaven on its obverse side, along with the words Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo, meaning the People's Republic of China, above it. The reverse side portrays a different panda design each year, except in 2002, when the design was the same as that of 2001. Beautifully designed and finely crafted, each Chinese Gold Panda is a worthy investment for any bullion collector.
