The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coin is an official bullion coin, minted and issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. It is a highly popular bullion coin and one of the finest coins on the global market. Originally released in 1979, the coin was issued at a time when the only other modern bullion coin, the Krugerrand, was not widely available in America and Europe. Between 1979 and 1982, the fineness of each Gold Maple Leaf was .999, but in 1982 this was raised to .9999, making it one of the finest coins in the world.
This very special 1g Maplegram coin is small, fine and impressively crafted, and is a particularly special edition of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coin. Each coin is beautifully designed, with the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side and the Canadian maple leaf on the reverse. A fractional variation on the original Maple Leaf, this smaller coin is still exceptional in its quality and design.
